Samsung is holding its Galaxy Unpacked event on July 22 in London, where it is expected to reveal the Galaxy Z Fold 8 range, Galaxy Glasses, and the Galaxy Watch 9. The event date was first reported by South Korean outlets Korea Economic Daily TV and Seoul Economic Daily in May 2026 and has since been corroborated by FCC certification filings. Samsung has begun its own teaser activity ahead of the London event, though it hasn’t officially confirmed all device names or full specifications.
The choice of London is deliberate. Europe is Samsung’s most competitive market for premium foldables, and July 22 positions the announcement roughly two months ahead of Apple’s expected September reveal of its first foldable iPhone.
What Samsung Is Expected to Announce
Three foldable devices are expected at Unpacked. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is a redesigned wider-format device with a 7.8-inch inner display and a 5.4-inch cover screen — a shift from the taller, narrower form factor Samsung has used in previous Fold generations. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is a more traditional successor to last year’s model. The Galaxy Z Flip 8 completes the foldable lineup. Leaked pricing puts the Z Fold 8 Ultra at $1,999 for the base 256GB model, with higher storage configurations running above that.
The Galaxy Watch 9 and Watch Ultra 2 are also expected, both likely running Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Wear Elite chips. They will go up directly against the Apple Watch Ultra 2, which remains the dominant option in the premium smartwatch segment in the US and UK.
Galaxy Glasses Are the Biggest New Product
Samsung Galaxy Glasses are the most anticipated product at the event. They are co-designed with premium eyewear brand Gentle Monster and run Google’s Android XR platform with Google Gemini built in — the same AI model that powers Google’s core products. Samsung and Google announced Android XR at Google I/O 2026 in May, and the Galaxy Glasses represent Samsung’s first serious entry into smart glasses for consumers.
Meta‘s Ray-Ban Stories 2 launched earlier in 2026 at $329 and validated the smart glasses category commercially. Samsung’s Galaxy Glasses are expected to price above that, offering tighter Android integration and a Gentle Monster fashion design that targets the premium end of the market.
Why London and Why Now
Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked events have typically been held in New York or San Francisco. London this year reflects the strength of the European foldable market, where Samsung competes against Google Pixel foldables and a growing number of Chinese manufacturers. It also means the announcement lands well before the back-to-school and holiday purchasing windows that drive hardware sales in Q3 and Q4.
Apple’s first foldable iPhone is expected in September. Samsung wants its new generation of foldables — and its Galaxy Glasses — in consumers’ hands and in reviewers’ coverage cycles before Apple changes the conversation in autumn.
Samsung Unpacked on July 22 in London is one of the most significant hardware events of 2026, and the Galaxy Glasses in particular will face the most scrutiny — they’re the biggest product Samsung has launched in a new category in years.
