Samsung is bringing a built-in S Pen slot to the Galaxy Z Fold 8. The company will unveil the new foldable lineup in July 2026, likely at a Galaxy Unpacked event.
This would be the first time a Fold-series phone has included the stylus slot, a feature that has been exclusive to the Note line and Ultra flagships. The move signals Samsung is merging its premium features across multiple product families.

What Changes on the Z Fold 8
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 gets improvements across durability, multitasking, and camera performance. Samsung refined the hinge mechanism to make the phone more robust after years of customer feedback about the crease and durability concerns.
Multitasking improvements include better software optimization for split-screen apps and smoother transitions between folded and unfolded states. The camera system receives updated sensors with higher megapixel counts on the ultrawide lens.
The Z Flip 8, launching globally on July 22, 2026, gets a taller cover screen that’s now more usable for quick tasks without unfolding the phone. Cover screen apps have been redesigned to take full advantage of the new real estate.
S Pen Integration and Pricing
The S Pen works with the same pressure-sensitive technology Samsung uses on its tablets. The stylus slides into a slot on the spine of the phone, similar to the Note line. Samsung expects this to appeal to professionals and artists who want a portable sketching tool.
The inclusion of the S Pen slot will likely push the Fold 8 into premium pricing territory. Expect the base Z Fold 8 to start above the current $1,899 price point, with the Z Flip 8 holding closer to its $999 launch price.
Competition Heats Up
Google and OnePlus have also been developing foldable phones to compete with Samsung’s dominance in the space. OnePlus is expected to launch a foldable sometime in 2026, while Google’s Pixel Fold 2 is rumored for later this year.
The foldable market remains small compared to regular smartphones, but Samsung has sold millions of units across the Fold and Flip lines since the first models arrived in 2019. Adding the S Pen could drive Fold adoption higher among creative professionals.
Samsung will reveal full specs, pricing, and availability details at its July event.
