Samsung hosts Galaxy Unpacked on July 22 in London at 2 PM BST (9 AM ET), unveiling the Z Fold 8 family, Z Flip 8, and Galaxy Watch 9 lineup. Pre-orders open immediately on July 22, with general sales beginning August 7. The company is introducing a new Z Fold 8 Wide model aimed at productivity users—a first for the lineup.

The standard Z Fold 8 starts at $1,999 and features a 200MP main camera with dedicated telephoto, ultra-wide, and dual selfie cameras. Battery capacity is 5,000 mAh with 45W wired charging. The Z Fold 8 Ultra steps up with refined specs, while the new Z Fold 8 Wide targets a 4:3 aspect ratio and weighs around 200g.
The Wide Model Strategy
Samsung is betting productivity-focused users want a different form factor. The Wide model trades the tall, narrow folded state for something closer to a tablet when open. Early reports suggest Samsung is targeting software features that take advantage of the wider canvas—split-screen multitasking, drawing apps, and document work.
Watch 9 and Wearables
The Galaxy Watch 9 and Watch 9 Ultra also launch July 22. Reports suggest improved health sensors, longer battery life, and tighter integration with Samsung Health. A new Galaxy Ring variant may also debut.
The Competitive Moment
Apple released the new iPad Pro with OLED in May. Google released Pixel Fold. Samsung is doubling down on the foldable form factor with hardware variety. The Wide model suggests Samsung is hedging—if users don’t want phones, maybe they’ll want something between a phone and a tablet.
