Sara Bareilles begins the Good Grief era with a new album and fall tour

By Tusher DebnathSeptember 1, 20262 Mins Read

Sara Bareilles has started a new chapter with Good Grief, a 14-track album released on August 28. Apple Music lists the album at about 58 minutes. It is her first full-length release since 2019, giving the record a longer runway than a routine single release.

The album arrived with a live plan already in place. Live Nation said Bareilles will begin a North American headline tour in Boston on September 9. The announced dates continue through October 19. The schedule turns Good Grief into more than a streaming release; it gives the songs a run of rooms where the audience can hear them while the album is still new.

“Home” was released as the first single ahead of the album. Live Nation also announced a documentary titled Sara Bareilles: Good Grief, which was set for a world premiere at Tribeca. The film and the tour give listeners two ways to follow the project, one on stage and one through a behind-the-scenes screen story.

Apple Music’s listing confirms the track count and release date but does not explain how Bareilles will structure the concerts. A new album of this size can support a full set, yet fans will still expect older songs from a catalogue that includes several major pop and theatre releases. The final balance will depend on the show’s running time and the arrangements prepared for the tour.

For listeners who want to start with the new material, the 14-song sequence is available through Apple Music. Tour dates and ticket details should be checked through the official promoter or venue because availability can change from city to city.

Good Grief is therefore arriving on two tracks at once. The album supplies the new music, while the September tour gives it an immediate public life. The strongest early signal is not a promised chart position or a prediction about the whole era. It is the simple release plan: a complete record, a lead song, a documentary project and concerts scheduled within days of the album.
