“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” has broken the record for the biggest domestic opening weekend in box office history, overtaking a mark held by “Avengers: Endgame” since 2019, according to studio estimates released this week.

The Marvel and Sony film brought in an estimated $360 million domestically over its first three days in North American theaters, edging past Endgame’s previous record of $357.1 million. The film’s opening day alone had already set a record at $168 million, and the full weekend figure confirms the film as the biggest domestic launch of all time by studio accounting.

The result also helped push the overall North American box office to its biggest weekend ever, with total industry-wide ticket sales estimated at $430 million across all films in release, surpassing the previous record weekend of $402.1 million set during Endgame’s original run. Universal Pictures separately crossed $4 billion in domestic box office for 2026, becoming the first studio to hit that mark this year after Disney reached $3 billion earlier in the year.

Other films in wide release also benefited from the heavy weekend foot traffic. Toy Story 5 added roughly $6.2 million to bring its domestic total to $461 million, while Illumination’s Minions & Monsters collected another $5.8 million, pushing its domestic haul to $168.4 million.

Industry analysts credited the Spider-Man record to a combination of built-in franchise demand, a favorable release date with limited direct competition, and strong reviews driving repeat viewings. Studio estimates are typically finalized into confirmed numbers by Monday, though the scale of the opening makes any significant revision downward unlikely.

The film’s global rollout continues this week, with international box office figures still being tallied across additional major markets, including India, where the film opened alongside its North American release. Sony has not yet released a combined worldwide total, though early estimates from trade trackers suggest the film is on pace to be among the studio’s highest-grossing releases of the year.
