The Ministry of Education has prepared a preliminary schedule for the 2027 Secondary School Certificate examinations and their equivalent assessments, with the tests proposed to begin on January 7 and continue until February 6.
Education boards have already drafted the routine and sent it to the ministry for final approval, according to the information available at this stage. The proposed calendar marks an effort to settle the examination period earlier in the academic year.
Officials involved in the process are seeking to complete the examinations before the start of Ramadan, a consideration that has shaped the timing of the draft schedule. The move is also intended to bring greater consistency to the academic calendar.
The SSC and equivalent examinations are among the country’s largest public examinations, involving students from general, madrasa and technical education streams. Any adjustment to the schedule typically affects classroom preparation, administrative planning and the broader education cycle.
At present, the routine remains in draft form and has not yet received final approval from the ministry. Education boards are awaiting the ministry’s decision before formally publishing the examination schedule.
