Warner Bros. held the world premiere of The End of Oak Street on Sunday in Los Angeles. Anne Hathaway walked the green carpet alongside co-stars Ewan McGregor, Maisy Stella and Christian Convery. The film opens in theaters on August 14.

The sci-fi survival thriller comes from writer-director David Robert Mitchell, best known for the horror film It Follows. J.J. Abrams produced it through his Bad Robot banner. The story follows the Platt family after a mysterious cosmic event rips their suburban street from its neighborhood. It lands the street in a location populated by prehistoric creatures.

Photos from the premiere, first published by Deadline and Just Jared, showed Hathaway visibly pregnant as she posed with her castmates outside Warner Bros. Studios. However, the actress has not publicly commented on the pregnancy beyond the appearance itself.

Meanwhile, Variety reported that new footage from the film screened for audiences in 4DX format ahead of release. The format adds motion seats and environmental effects like wind and mist. So studios increasingly use it to build buzz for effects-heavy releases in their final weeks before theaters.

Hathaway’s casting continues a run of genre projects for the actress. For instance, she has spent much of the past decade splitting her time between awards-season dramas and bigger studio swings. McGregor, who plays opposite her, has similarly moved between prestige television and blockbuster franchise work in recent years.

The film arrives in a crowded mid-August window. As a result, it competes for screens with holdover summer releases as studios look to close out the season with one more wide swing. Warner Bros. has scheduled the release across standard, premium large format and 4DX screens, according to Variety’s report on the footage screening.

No review embargo date has been publicly announced. So early reaction to The End of Oak Street will likely come from premiere attendees and social media before formal critical reviews land closer to the release date.
