Apple iPhone 18 Pro Max Leaks Point To Display Shift And Bigger Battery Ahead Of September Launch

Months before its usual autumn showcase, early details about the next flagship from Apple Inc. have begun circulating across the industry’s supply chain chatter, outlining what may change in the upcoming Apple iPhone 18 Pro Max when it reaches India around September.

The company has not publicly acknowledged any of the specifications, consistent with its long-standing practice of silence ahead of launch. Still, tipsters have steadily pieced together information since last year’s iPhone 17 Pro Max debut, suggesting the design could move in a noticeably different direction.

The most talked-about shift involves Face ID. Apple is said to be testing an under-display system, which would shrink the Dynamic Island area and leave more usable screen space. Reports also indicate the selfie camera may shift to a punch-hole positioned toward the top-left corner.

At the rear, the familiar camera island is expected to remain, though the glass finish may see minor refinement. Sources further claim the colour palette may lean toward darker tones, including deep purple, burgundy and brown.

Inside the device, the phone is believed to run on an A20 Pro processor manufactured on a 2-nanometre process by TSMC. The change is expected to bring roughly a 15 percent performance improvement and up to 30 percent better power efficiency compared with its predecessor.

Engineers may also rearrange internal components to fit a larger battery. The handset is tipped to carry a 5100mAh unit, extending screen time but adding a little weight to the biggest model in the lineup.

Connectivity may come from Apple’s in-house C3 modem. The display size itself is expected to remain unchanged at 6.9 inches.

Camera hardware could evolve in a subtler way. The 48-megapixel sensor is reported to gain variable aperture control, allowing users to adjust depth of field and light intake rather than relying entirely on software processing.

In India, pricing is expected to match last year’s top model at Rs 1,49,900 if current indications hold. Meanwhile, Apple is preparing to unveil the more affordable iPhone 17e in the nearer term.
