Avatar: Fire and Ash, the third film in James Cameron’s Avatar franchise, begins streaming on Disney+ on June 24. The film was released in cinemas in December 2025 and had one of the highest-grossing runs of that year before its transition to home viewing. For the millions of viewers who skipped the theatrical release, June 24 is the first chance to watch it at home.
Fire and Ash follows Avatar: The Way of Water, which was released in 2022. The story continues with the Sully family on Pandora and introduces a new clan, the Ash People, who live in volcanic territory. Cameron directed both sequels under a production schedule that ran several films simultaneously, with the fourth and fifth Avatar films already in various stages of production.
Disney+ is making the film available globally on the same date across all regions where the streaming service operates. The platform has been consistent about day-and-date international launches for major theatrical titles in its library. No additional streaming tiers or paywalls are required beyond a standard Disney+ subscription.
Avatar: Fire and Ash runs approximately two hours and forty minutes. It was shot in a combination of live action and motion-capture performance in Cameron’s signature high-frame-rate photography style. The film’s visual effects team used the same underwater capture technology developed for The Way of Water, extended for the volcanic environment sequences in the third installment.
Cameron has confirmed the fourth Avatar film is in production with a planned theatrical release in 2028. Fire and Ash on Disney+ from June 24 gives the franchise a visibility boost ahead of that announcement cycle.
