Cocktail 2 began streaming on Netflix on August 14, roughly two months after its theatrical release, giving the Shahid Kapoor-led romantic comedy a second life for audiences who skipped the big screen. The film joined a handful of other new titles that hit Netflix and Prime Video the same Friday.

The movie stars Shahid Kapoor as Kunal, alongside Kriti Sanon as Alisha and Rashmika Mandanna as Diya, in a love triangle that positions the film as a spiritual sequel to 2012’s Cocktail rather than a direct continuation of its story. Homi Adajania returned to direct, working from a script co-written by Luv Ranjan and Tarun Jain.
Dinesh Vijan, Luv Ranjan and Ankur Garg produced the film under their Maddock Films and Luv Films banners. The original Cocktail, which starred Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone and Diana Penty, became one of 2012’s defining Bollywood romantic comedies, and Maddock leaned on that goodwill while marketing the follow-up.
Cocktail 2 first opened in theaters on June 19. Reviews were mixed, and Bollywood Hungama described its theatrical run as average by box office standards. Even so, the film ended up as the sixth highest-grossing Hindi film of 2026, a sign that its ensemble cast and franchise name still drew steady audiences despite lukewarm critical reception.
The Netflix debut gives the film a chance to find a broader audience than its theatrical run reached, particularly among viewers who wait for streaming rather than paying for a cinema ticket. Netflix has increasingly used Friday windows roughly two months after a Hindi film’s theatrical release to bring major Bollywood titles to its platform, a pattern Cocktail 2 now follows.
Neither Netflix nor the film’s producers have released streaming viewership numbers, which the platform typically keeps private outside its weekly top 10 lists. Whether Cocktail 2 cracks Netflix’s India top 10 in its first week will be one of the clearer signs of how much interest the film retained after its theatrical run ended.
