Deepika Padukone has been named among the 2026 inductees of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, making her the first Indian actress to receive the honour.

The achievement marks a shift in how Hollywood recognizes talent that built careers outside the studio system. Padukone’s path was Bollywood first. Hollywood learned her name from her work, not the other way around.
How Padukone Crossed Over
She didn’t arrive in Hollywood on the usual trajectory—prestigious indie films, festival buzz, breakout American role. Instead, she built a massive career in Indian cinema, then appeared in Hollywood films as an established star bringing her own audience.
Films like Xander Cage and the Marvel appearances came after she had already shaped Indian cinema. That’s a different power dynamic than most international stars experience.
What This Signifies
The Walk of Fame has historically been a trophy for careers built inside the American system. Padukone’s inclusion signals the industry finally recognizing that global film markets generate legitimate international stars, not just regional talent.
She’s not the first actress from outside the Anglophone sphere. But she’s the first whose primary success came from India, not Hollywood, and who still got recognized.
Indian cinema just got a star on Hollywood Boulevard.
