Federico Valverde and Aurelien Tchouameni Apologize After Real Madrid Training Incident

Real Madrid entered the week preparing for a decisive El Clasico against Barcelona, but attention quickly shifted away from the pitch after reports of a confrontation between Federico Valverde and Aurelien Tchouameni during training.

Tchouameni addressed the situation publicly in a lengthy statement, acknowledging the damage caused by the incident and apologizing to supporters and teammates.

“What happened this week in training is unacceptable,” the French midfielder wrote.

The midfielder also stressed that frustration over the season could not justify the confrontation.

“I say this while thinking about the example we are expected to set for young people, whether in football or at school,” he wrote. “No matter who is right or wrong, we should always look for the calmest solution to resolve a conflict.”

According to the information provided, Valverde required stitches following the altercation. Despite the tension, Tchouameni indicated the squad had already begun trying to move forward internally, saying he had apologized to the group and accepted the punishment imposed by the club.

He also pushed back against what he described as exaggerated online speculation surrounding the incident.

“The internet loves to invent the wildest stories for the buzz so don’t believe everything that’s being said or the false narrative,” Tchouameni wrote.

The timing leaves Madrid in an awkward position ahead of Sunday’s meeting with Barcelona at Camp Nou, a match carrying major consequences for the title race. Even a draw would be enough to hand the championship to their rivals, increasing pressure on a squad already dealing with scrutiny over its performances and internal tensions.

Tchouameni is still expected to be available for the match, although the focus inside the dressing room now appears to be on restoring unity before one of the club’s biggest fixtures of the season.

In his closing remarks, the midfielder attempted to shift attention back toward football and the club’s broader objectives.

“We remain a family, with disagreements at times, but we must always put our objectives above everything else,” he wrote. “Now it is time to move forward, and all our focus is on El Clásico and on the season ahead, to bring the club back to the top, where it belongs.”
