Google’s Pixel 11 Pro Fold starts at $1,899, a $100 increase over last year’s model, with the company betting that a tougher build rather than a lower price will win over foldable phone buyers when it goes on sale August 20.
The starting configuration comes with 256GB of storage and 16GB of RAM, according to 9to5Google, which got early hands on time with the device. Pre orders are already open through the Google Store, Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, Best Buy and Amazon, with the phone arriving in Obsidian and a new Olive green color option.
Durability is the headline change this year. Google says the Pixel 11 Pro Fold is three times more durable than its predecessor, built around a new glass fiber composite back cover the company describes as nearly impossible to crack, paired with a redesigned gearless hinge. The device carries an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance, addressing one of the longer standing weaknesses of foldable phones compared to standard slab phones.
The phone is also thinner and lighter than last year’s version, measuring 10.1mm thick and weighing around 239 grams, roughly 10 percent lighter than the Pixel 10 Pro Fold. Both the outer and inner displays reach 3,600 nits of peak brightness, a jump aimed at making the screens easier to read in direct sunlight, a common complaint with earlier foldable generations.
Inside, the Pixel 11 Pro Fold runs on Google’s Tensor G6 chip, the same silicon powering the rest of the Pixel 11 lineup, giving it access to the same on device AI features found in the standard Pixel 11 and Pixel 11 Pro. A new LED light on the back, which Google calls HiLight, and slightly faster charging round out the hardware changes.
The pricing puts the Pixel 11 Pro Fold well above Samsung’s competing foldables in most markets, a gap Google is betting its durability claims and camera hardware can justify once reviewers get full units ahead of the August 20 launch.
