Huawei Mate 80 Pro Global Launch Begins with Malaysia Release

By Sibbir OsmanMarch 17, 20263 Mins Read

Huawei Mate 80 Pro has officially entered the global market, starting with its first international release in Malaysia. The device was previously introduced in China in November 2025 and is now being positioned for wider availability. This marks Huawei’s latest move to strengthen its premium smartphone presence outside its home market.

The global rollout comes at a time when Huawei is gradually rebuilding its international footprint. The Mate 80 Pro is currently the only model from the Mate 80 series being offered globally, signaling a focused strategy rather than a full lineup expansion.

Flagship hardware with high-end display and camera system

The Huawei Mate 80 Pro features a 6.75-inch LTPO OLED display with a resolution of 2832 × 1280 pixels. It supports a 120Hz refresh rate and can reach up to 3,000 nits peak brightness. The screen also includes 1440Hz PWM dimming and a 300Hz touch sampling rate, offering smoother visuals and improved responsiveness.

The display is protected by second-generation Kunlun Glass, which is designed to improve durability. Huawei continues to focus on display quality as a key selling point, especially in the premium segment.

On the camera side, the Mate 80 Pro includes a triple rear setup. It features a 50MP main camera with a variable aperture ranging from f/1.4 to f/4.0, a 40MP ultra-wide lens, and a 48MP macro telephoto camera. The system supports 4x optical zoom and up to 100x digital zoom, along with 8K video recording capability.

The front camera is a 13MP sensor capable of 4K video recording. Huawei continues to emphasize imaging performance as a core strength of its flagship devices.

Battery, performance and global positioning

The Huawei Mate 80 Pro is powered by a 5,750mAh battery. It supports 100W wired charging and 80W wireless charging, placing it among the faster-charging devices in its category. The phone also includes IP68 and IP69 ratings for water and dust resistance.

Connectivity features include WiFi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC, dual SIM support, and an infrared sensor. The device also offers both 3D face unlock and a fingerprint scanner for security.

Huawei has not officially confirmed the chipset used in the global variant. In China, the device runs on the Kirin 9030 Pro processor, paired with 16GB RAM and 512GB storage. The global model is currently available in the same configuration.

The device is priced at RM 3,999 in Malaysia. It is offered in Black, Green, and Gold color options, placing it firmly in the premium flagship segment.

Huawei Mate 80 Pro enters the global market with a focused launch strategy and strong hardware offering. Its performance in Malaysia may shape how quickly Huawei expands availability to other regions.

FYI (keeping you in the loop)-
