A short, carefully produced animated trailer for *Jujutsu Kaisen: Modulo* has quickly found a wide audience online, offering a glimpse into how one of the industry’s busiest studios is rethinking how it presents its biggest titles.

Released on April 30, the trailer was positioned by Studio MAPPA as a “commemoration special PV,” arriving just ahead of the spin-off manga’s third and final volume in Japan. Rather than a conventional adaptation announcement, the video stands on its own, produced by a dedicated team led by director and storyboard artist Shun Miyagawa.
Within hours of its release, the trailer crossed 10 million views on social media, according to an update shared by AniTV. The response reflects sustained audience interest in the *Jujutsu Kaisen* franchise, even as this particular project concludes its serialized run.
*Jujutsu Kaisen: Modulo* is set 68 years after the timeline of the original series. Its story unfolded over 25 chapters in Weekly Shonen Jump, beginning in September 2025 and ending in March this year. The trailer offers only a brief introduction to that setting, focusing more on atmosphere than narrative detail.
MAPPA’s decision not to pair the release with a full anime announcement appears deliberate. The studio instead committed resources to a standalone piece of animation, backed by a production committee that includes experienced contributors such as Sota Yamazaki and Sota Matsunaga, both of whom have worked on *Jujutsu Kaisen* and *Chainsaw Man*.
That approach reflects a broader shift in how major studios are allocating their time and talent. Short-form animated content, produced outside the constraints of a full series schedule, allows studios to maintain visibility around key intellectual properties without committing to long production cycles.
The timing is also notable. The franchise is preparing for the release of *Jujutsu Kaisen* Culling Game Part 2, and the Modulo trailer arrives at a moment when maintaining audience attention carries clear value.
Commercially, the spin-off has already shown stable performance. Its first two volumes recorded sales of more than 190,000 and 194,700 copies respectively. The trailer appears designed to extend that momentum, particularly among audiences who engage with anime primarily through social media.

As competition for attention intensifies across manga and anime, such targeted promotional efforts are becoming more visible. For now, MAPPA’s Modulo trailer stands as a contained experiment—one that has drawn significant attention without committing to what comes next.
