Kyle Schwarber hit his 30th home run of the season in the seventh inning on Sunday, becoming the first major league player to reach that mark in 2026 — and setting a Philadelphia Phillies franchise record in the process.

The two-run shot off the Mets gave the Phillies a 5-4 win at Citizens Bank Park. Schwarber reached 30 homers in just 84 games, the fastest any Phillie has ever done it. The previous franchise record belonged to Mike Schmidt, who got to 30 in his 87th game of the 1979 season.
A Pace No Active Player Has Matched
Schwarber now has six consecutive seasons with at least 30 home runs — the longest active streak in baseball. His eight total seasons of 30-plus HRs are the most among any active player in the majors. Sunday’s homer also makes him just the third National League player to reach 30 homers this quickly in a season, joining Albert Pujols and Barry Bonds in that company.
ESPN ran a piece earlier this season asking whether Schwarber could join the 60 home run club by October. At his current pace through 84 games, that territory is not out of reach if he stays healthy and the power keeps coming.
What This Means for the Phillies
Philadelphia is in a tight NL East race with the Atlanta Braves and the New York Mets. A left fielder hitting 30 home runs before the All-Star break is not a small thing for a team trying to hold onto first place through the summer.
Schwarber’s production also comes in high-leverage situations. He has a history of delivering in late-inning moments — Sunday’s seventh-inning go-ahead shot being the latest example. For a team built around moments like that, his consistency matters beyond the counting stats.
The Rest of the Season Ahead
The Phillies have a stretch of games against NL East competition coming up in July. Schwarber’s form heading into that stretch makes him one of the most valuable bats in the National League right now. With Bryce Harper and J.T. Realmuto around him in the lineup, pitchers have limited options when it comes to working around Schwarber.
At 33, he is in the prime of his power years. Six straight 30-homer seasons suggests this is not a hot streak — it’s a baseline.
Schwarber leads all of baseball in home runs at the midpoint of the 2026 season, and the Phillies are building a postseason case around exactly that kind of production.
FYI (keeping you in the loop)
How many home run seasons has Kyle Schwarber had?
Schwarber has eight career seasons with 30 or more home runs, the most among any active MLB player, and Sunday’s milestone gives him six consecutive 30-HR seasons — the longest active streak in baseball.
