LG Electronics unveiled CLOiD, an advanced home robot capable of handling complex household tasks including cooking and laundry management. The prototype demonstrates LG’s vision for AI-powered robotics that addresses genuine pain points in household automation.

CLOiD combines mechanical dexterity with AI reasoning, enabling the robot to understand complex verbal instructions and execute multi-step household routines. The robot can retrieve items, operate appliances, and coordinate across multiple tasks within a smart home ecosystem.
The cooking capability addresses a persistent challenge for home robots. CLOiD can prepare simple meals under human supervision, follow recipes, and adapt to different kitchen layouts. Laundry handling includes sorting, loading machines, and folding finished garments—tasks requiring fine motor control previous robots lacked.
LG positioned CLOiD as a technology showcase rather than an imminent consumer product. The company demonstrated working prototypes at tech conferences but provided no release timeline or pricing information.
Industry observers noted CLOiD represents significant progress in home robotics, though full autonomy remains years away. Real-world home environments present challenges that controlled laboratory tests can’t replicate, limiting near-term commercialization prospects.
