French indie watchmaker March LA.B has expanded its AM2 collection with a smaller and notably slimmer interpretation of its angular sports-inspired design language, introducing the new AM2 XS, a hand-wound model positioned by the company as a dress watch.

Founded in 2009 and operating between Los Angeles and Biarritz, the brand has built much of its identity around shaped cases and a relaxed aesthetic influenced by Californian surf culture and French design sensibilities. The AM2 line, itself derived from the earlier AM1 family inspired by American muscle cars, remains one of the company’s most recognizable silhouettes.
The new AM2 XS keeps that familiar architecture intact while reducing the proportions considerably. The case measures 32mm across and just 6.7mm thick, making it the slimmest execution of the AM2 to date. Despite the smaller dimensions, the watch retains the sharply faceted octagonal form that has defined the series, including the sloping polished surfaces and the signature crown positioned at 4 o’clock.
March LA.B is offering the watch in both stainless steel and gold PVD finishes. Six polished facets run around the case, contrasted by vertically brushed sections at 12 and 6 o’clock that continue into the bezel. The geometry remains distinctly rooted in 1970s styling, though the reduced thickness gives the watch a more restrained profile than earlier AM2 models.
The crown remains screw-down, contributing to a stated water resistance of 50 metres. The sharply pointed lugs extend slightly beyond the case body and connect to either a seven-link steel bracelet or leather strap, both fitted with quick-release spring bars.
Dial options include green, white and gold tones, identified by the brand as Grall, Shelter and Golden Hour respectively. All feature a stamped houndstooth texture, replacing the more overtly sporty detailing seen on previous AM2 references. There is no date display on the dial, and luminous material has been omitted in favour of polished hour markers and faceted sword-shaped hands.
Inside the watch is the manually wound La Joux-Perret D101 calibre, visible through a green-tinted sapphire display caseback. The movement, described as an alternative to the ETA Peseux 7001, measures 2.5mm thick and operates at 3Hz with a quoted 50-hour power reserve.

The AM2 family has previously appeared in a range of materials and limited editions, including a titanium Millésime March edition released in 2024 and the carbon fibre Nyctalope model introduced earlier this year. With the AM2 XS, the company appears to be refining that same visual identity into a more compact and formal direction without abandoning the angular character that has come to define the collection.
