Netflix released “Our Sticky Love” on August 7, a South Korean romantic comedy series pairing Jung Hae-in and newcomer Ha Young in a story built around memory loss, small-town secrets, and an unlikely fake romance.
The series follows Go Eun-sae, a prosecutor who loses her memory, and Jang Tae-ha, a boxing coach who tells her he is her boyfriend even though he is not. Their forced cohabitation plays out in a quiet countryside village known for its yeot shops, the traditional Korean taffy that gives the show its title and its central metaphor for a relationship built on a sticky, complicated lie.
Heo Sung-tae, known for supporting turns in other Korean productions, joins the cast, and the show layers in action and noir elements through a subplot involving a crime boss named Baek Sang Gil, giving the romance a harder edge than a typical countryside comedy.
The series comes from director Kim Jang Han, whose earlier credits include “Do You Like Brahms?” and “My Demon,” both of which built sizable international followings on streaming. Writer Mo Ji Hye reunites with Kim for the first time in four years, their last collaboration being “You Raise Me Up.”
“Our Sticky Love” runs twelve episodes at roughly 60 minutes each, a fuller season than many recent Korean dramas that have trimmed episode counts for streaming audiences. Netflix has positioned the series as part of its continued push into Korean content, a category that has consistently delivered some of the platform’s biggest global hits in recent years.
Early reaction on social media and fan forums has focused on the chemistry between Jung Hae-in and Ha Young, along with curiosity about how the show will balance its romantic comedy tone with the darker crime plot running underneath it. Netflix has not released viewership figures for the premiere, and the platform typically waits at least a week before sharing any numbers for new original series.
