Netherlands beat Tunisia 3–1 in their final group game to top Group F, and they meet Morocco — second behind Brazil in Group C — at Estadio BBVA in Monterrey, Mexico, on June 29 at 9:00 PM ET.

This is one of the most compelling Round of 32 fixtures in the entire bracket. Morocco reached the 2022 World Cup semi-finals, the furthest any African side has ever gone. Netherlands are a consistent European force who’ve come close multiple times but haven’t won a major tournament since 1988. Both squads are built to go deep.
The Dutch-Moroccan Connection
Three Morocco starters — Sofyan Amrabat, Anass Salah-Eddine, and Noussair Mazraoui — were born in the Netherlands. That adds a layer of narrative to a match that doesn’t need more storylines. More practically, the Dutch coaching staff knows these players extremely well from domestic football.
Netherlands’ midfield has been their strongest area this tournament. They press intelligently and transition fast. Morocco defend deep and hit on the break — which is exactly the game that can trouble Netherlands if they push too high up the pitch.
Morocco’s Set-Piece Threat
Morocco are dangerous from set pieces. Their 2022 success was built partly on dead-ball moments and defensive resilience. They haven’t changed that philosophy. If they can limit Dutch possession and win a few free kicks in dangerous areas, an upset becomes a real possibility.
Netherlands are slight favourites. But a Morocco side that made the semi-finals four years ago should not be treated as a routine knockout fixture — no matter what the bracket says.
Kickoff and Broadcast Information
Netherlands vs Morocco kicks off at 9:00 PM ET on June 29 at Estadio BBVA in Monterrey, Mexico. Fox Sports carries the US broadcast. beIN Sports has rights across the Arab world and Morocco. In the Netherlands, NOS will air the match.
This is the fixture of the first Round of 32 weekend. Whoever wins will believe they can go all the way.
