OPPO has taken a decisive step in its flagship strategy with the launch of the oppo find x9 ultra camera, positioning the device squarely around photography rather than general performance. Unveiled on April 21, 2026, in Chengdu, the phone reflects a deeper collaboration with Hasselblad and signals a shift in how OPPO intends to compete in global premium markets.

A Global Debut for the Ultra Series
For the first time, an Ultra-tier Find X device will be sold outside China. Previous models, including the Find X7 Ultra and Find X8 Ultra, remained limited to the domestic market. The Find X9 Ultra changes that approach, with confirmed availability across the UK, Europe, and India starting May 2026.
Sales in China began on April 24, while Europe and the UK will follow on May 8 through official channels. India is expected to receive the device later in May, with pricing to be announced separately. There are no current plans for a United States release.
Oppo Find X9 Ultra Camera Takes Center Stage
The oppo find x9 ultra camera is the defining feature of the device. OPPO has built what it calls a New-Generation Hasselblad Master Camera System, combining multiple high-resolution sensors with a focus on colour science and optical performance.
At the core is a 200 MP main sensor, described by the company as the largest of its kind in a smartphone. It is paired with another 200 MP periscope telephoto lens capable of 3x zoom, which also doubles as a macro camera. A second periscope lens delivers 10x optical zoom using a quintuple prism design, extending to 20x optical-quality zoom.
The system also includes a 50 MP ultra-wide camera and a dedicated multispectral sensor aimed at improving colour accuracy. On the front, a 50 MP camera supports autofocus and wide-angle capture.
Video capabilities are equally extensive, with support for 8K recording, Dolby Vision across lenses, and a new O-Log2 format designed for professional workflows.
Imaging Software and Shooting Experience
Beyond hardware, the oppo find x9 ultra camera is supported by a wide range of shooting modes and software tools. These include Hasselblad Master Mode with multiple film styles, Pro Video controls, and specialised modes such as XPAN and Teleconverter.
A new imaging feature called LUMO aims to improve image quality at intermediate zoom levels by increasing effective pixel output. OPPO describes this as delivering consistent high-resolution results across key focal lengths.
The device also supports advanced video workflows, including real-time LUT preview and ACES colour management, targeting creators who require more control over output.
Performance, Battery and Design
The phone is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, paired with up to 16 GB of RAM and UFS 4.1 storage. OPPO has integrated its own thermal system to manage sustained performance, particularly in high-refresh gaming scenarios.
Battery capacity stands at 7,050 mAh, with support for 100 W wired charging and 50 W wireless charging. OPPO claims extended media playback times on a single charge.
Design choices reflect the camera-first positioning. The device features a large camera module, premium materials including vegan leather options, and dedicated hardware buttons for camera control.
Pricing and Market Position
Pricing varies by region, with the global 12 GB and 512 GB model set at £1,449 in the UK and €1,699 in Europe. Chinese pricing starts lower, though configurations differ.
The oppo find x9 ultra camera enters a competitive segment alongside flagship devices from Samsung, Xiaomi, and Vivo. OPPO’s messaging, however, remains firmly focused on imaging, branding the phone as “Your Next Camera.”

The oppo find x9 ultra camera represents a shift in OPPO’s flagship strategy, combining high-end imaging hardware with a broader global rollout. By taking the Ultra series beyond China for the first time, OPPO is testing whether its camera-centric approach can stand out in a crowded premium market. The emphasis on professional-grade photography tools suggests the company is aiming at a more specialised audience, even as it expands its reach internationally.
