Oppo launched the Reno16 and Reno16c in India on July 2. Both sit in the compact-to-midsize space that appeals to users fatigued by 6.7-inch flagships. The standard Reno16 carries a 6.32-inch display. Base pricing starts at Rs 61,999, roughly $650.
The core processor is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 4, a chip that handles daily tasks without strain but won’t push gaming benchmarks.
Design and Display
Both phones use FHD+ AMOLED screens at 120Hz refresh rate. The Reno16 brings IP68/69K dust and water resistance. Design follows Oppo’s playbook: clean lines, matte finish options, understated brand presence. Four cameras occupy a vertical module on the rear; a pill-shaped selfie window sits at the front.
Battery is 6,700mAh with 80W wired charging. No wireless charging, a cost tradeoff Oppo made to hold the price.
The AI Snap Key Angle
Oppo introduced a new physical button it calls AI Snap Key. Press it, and the interface opens a sidebar combining ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity—side-by-side comparison of three LLM responses to the same query. It’s a genuine differentiator for users who toggle between AI tools daily.
Camera specs show four 50MP shooters covering main, 3.5x telephoto, ultra-wide, and selfie duties.
The Reno16 targets users who want a phone that fits one hand and doesn’t demand premium pricing.
