A fresh leak has shed light on Xiaomi’s upcoming poco x8 pro, suggesting the company may be taking a different route with its next Poco X-series launch. Instead of a direct Poco X7 successor, Xiaomi appears to be preparing a Poco X8 Pro Max with a notably larger battery for global markets.

Poco X8 Pro may not have a standard successor

According to the leak, Xiaomi may skip launching a regular Poco X8 Pro variant altogether. Earlier rumours had already suggested that development of the Poco X8 Pro was cancelled, similar to Xiaomi’s decision around the Poco F8, where only the Poco F8 Pro and Poco F8 Ultra were released globally. The latest information reinforces the idea that Xiaomi is focusing on a single high-capacity model under the Poco X8 lineup.

Poco X8 Pro Max tied to Redmi Turbo 5 Max

The leak links the poco x8 pro series to the recently launched Redmi Turbo 5 Max in China. HyperOS code updates reportedly reference a global equivalent, believed to be the Poco X8 Pro Max. While the Redmi Turbo 5 Max features a 9,000 mAh battery, the Poco X8 Pro Max is expected to ship with a slightly smaller but still substantial 8,550 mAh battery capacity.

Fast charging confirmed, wireless charging unlikely

Despite the reduced battery size compared to its Redmi counterpart, the poco x8 pro Max is tipped to support 100 W wired fast charging. However, similar to the Redmi Turbo 5 Max, the device is not expected to offer wireless charging support. This positioning would still give it one of the largest batteries among Xiaomi’s globally available smartphones.

The latest leak suggests Xiaomi may bypass a standard Poco X8 Pro release in favour of the Poco X8 Pro Max, offering an 8,550 mAh battery and 100 W wired charging for global users.
