Barry Manilow postpones Lexington concert for second time

Singer Barry Manilow postponed his concert at Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky, on Tuesday night, just minutes before the 7 p.m. show was scheduled to begin, arena officials said.

Rupp Arena announced the postponement on social media, citing “unexpected and unforeseen circumstances” without elaborating further. Several concertgoers told local station WKYT they learned the show was off while they were already standing in line to get into the building.

It is the second time the Lexington date has been postponed. The concert, billed as “Manilow: The Last Lexington Concert,” was originally scheduled for March 9 but was pushed back while Manilow recovered from lung cancer surgery. He announced his diagnosis in December 2025 and had surgery to remove the cancer later that month.

Venue officials said the show will be rescheduled and that all previously purchased tickets will be honored once a new date is announced. No timeline had been released as of Wednesday. The cancellation left fans who had traveled to Lexington for the show without clear answers about when they might see Manilow perform in the city again.

Manilow, 83, has had one of the longest-running careers in pop music, with more than 85 million albums sold worldwide, 51 Top 40 singles, including 13 No. 1 hits, and a Songwriters Hall of Fame induction. He has also won Grammy, Tony and Emmy Awards, held a long-running Las Vegas residency, and set attendance records at Radio City Music Hall.

The postponement came two days after Manilow performed a 90-minute show without incident in Columbus, Ohio, deepening the mystery around what caused the last-minute change in Lexington. Beyond music, Manilow founded the Manilow Music Project, which has donated instruments and resources to schools nationwide, and wrote the Broadway musical “Harmony,” named a 2023 New York Times Critic’s Pick, further extending a career that has spanned more than five decades.
