Electric motorcycle company Raptee.HV and Rajalakshmi Engineering College have opened a Centre of Excellence for electric mobility in Chennai. Autocar Professional reported that the facility is designed for training, prototyping and joint research, while a separate report from Energetica India confirmed the industry-academia partnership and the 3,000-square-foot facility.

The lab is part of Raptee.HV Academy, the company’s education programme. Autocar Professional says the project carries an investment of Rs 50 lakh and will support practical training, internships, site visits and research opportunities for students in electrical, electronics and automotive engineering.
The equipment list is aimed at the parts of an EV that students need to understand before they can design or service one. The facility includes a Raptee.HV T30, powertrain components, a motorcycle platform using digital-twin technology, and equipment related to battery packs, electric motors, power electronics, charging systems and vehicle communication networks.
That hands-on emphasis is important because EV engineering is not limited to battery capacity. Students must work with the links between cells, power electronics, motor control, charging, diagnostics and software. A lab that brings those systems together can give coursework a closer connection to the problems faced by manufacturers and suppliers.
The announcement does not promise a new motorcycle or a production expansion. It is an education and research project. Its value will depend on how often students use the equipment, whether joint projects produce tested results and how the partnership develops over time. For India’s growing electric-mobility sector, however, a dedicated training facility shows a practical attempt to widen the talent pool behind the vehicles.
Students will be able to connect classroom theory with real vehicle systems, which is the central purpose of the partnership rather than a new retail launch.
The facility also gives Raptee.HV a place to test education partnerships around battery packs, power electronics and vehicle software.
