Saic Z7 And Z7T Pre-Orders Set For March 23 As Huawei Tech Sedans Target Xiaomi SU7

By Sazzad HossainMarch 16, 20264 Mins Read

Saic Z7 and Z7T will open pre-orders on March 23 as SAIC and Huawei expand their jointly developed electric vehicle lineup in China. The two mid-to-large electric sedans are positioned in the 250,000 to 350,000 yuan price range and will integrate Huawei’s intelligent driving technology.

The launch places the Saic Z7 and Z7T directly in competition with the new Xiaomi SU7. Both vehicles were recently registered with China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, confirming key specifications before their market debut.

Saic Z7 And Z7T Designed As Huawei-Powered Electric Sedans

The Saic Z7 and Z7T represent the latest vehicles under the SAIC–Huawei partnership within the Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance ecosystem. The cars will run on Huawei’s Tuling vehicle platform and use the Qiankun intelligent driving system.

These systems combine hardware and software designed for advanced driver assistance and vehicle connectivity. The collaboration reflects Huawei’s growing role in China’s electric vehicle sector, where it supplies technology platforms to several automakers.

Both sedans share a similar design language. The front features a closed grille typical of electric vehicles, paired with slim headlight clusters and a multi-section air intake. At the rear, the cars use a full-width taillight design and a sculpted diffuser.

Dimensions place the models firmly in the mid-to-large sedan category. Vehicle length ranges from 5036 mm to 5051 mm. Width measures between 1976 mm and 1980 mm, while height varies from 1445 mm to 1465 mm. The wheelbase is 3000 mm for both versions.

Powertrain options include single-motor and dual-motor configurations. The single-motor version produces up to 264 kW of power, equivalent to around 354 horsepower, and reaches a top speed of 220 km/h.

The dual-motor Ultra variant pairs a 170 kW front motor with the same 264 kW rear motor. That configuration allows higher performance, with top speeds reported between 239 km/h and 242 km/h depending on the setup.

Battery options include lithium iron phosphate and ternary lithium packs supplied by major Chinese battery manufacturers. The maximum claimed CLTC driving range reaches 905 kilometers.

Competition With Xiaomi SU7 Intensifies In China EV Market

The announcement places the Saic Z7 and Z7T in direct comparison with Xiaomi’s SU7 electric sedan. Xiaomi’s latest version of the SU7 lists a maximum CLTC range of about 902 kilometers.

Design comparisons have also emerged online. Some observers noted similarities between the silhouette of the Saic Z7 and the SU7, which itself drew inspiration from performance-oriented electric sedan styling.

The timing of the announcement has added further attention. Pre-orders for the Saic Z7 and Z7T begin only days after Xiaomi confirmed an earlier-than-expected launch date for the updated SU7.

The Chinese electric vehicle market remains one of the most competitive automotive sectors globally. Domestic brands are accelerating development cycles while integrating new software platforms and driver-assistance systems.

The Saic Z7 and Z7T now enter that race as Huawei-powered alternatives in the premium mid-size EV segment. Their official debut and pre-orders on March 23 will determine how strongly the models can compete with the already well-known Xiaomi SU7.

FYI (keeping you in the loop)-

When will Saic Z7 and Z7T pre-orders begin?

What driving range does the Saic Z7 offer?

The Saic Z7 has a claimed maximum CLTC driving range of 905 kilometers. This figure places it among the longest-range electric sedans currently announced in China.

How does Saic Z7 compare with Xiaomi SU7?

The Saic Z7 and Xiaomi SU7 compete in a similar electric sedan category in China. Both vehicles offer long driving range and advanced software systems integrated into the vehicle platform.
