Leaked specifications for the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8 show a meaningful set of upgrades over the Flip 7, including a bigger inner display, a larger battery, and what appears to be Qi2 magnetic wireless charging — a first for Samsung’s clamshell line. The expected starting price is $1,099 in the United States, unchanged from the current model.
The inner display grows to 6.9 inches. The cover display stretches to 4.1 inches. Both represent incremental but real improvements over the Flip 7’s dimensions. The battery gets a bump to 4,300mAh. Case renders have been shared by leakers showing a circular magnetic ring on the lower half of the rear panel, which strongly hints at MagSafe-style alignment compatible with Qi2 chargers and accessories.
One notable detail in the chipset leaks: the Galaxy Z Flip 8 may continue using an Exynos processor in certain markets rather than the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 going into the Z Fold 8. That would be a controversial choice given the performance difference, and Samsung has not confirmed which chipset the Flip 8 will carry globally.
The launch is set for July 22 in London alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Watch lineup. This is the same Unpacked event Samsung has used for its foldables in recent years.
One rumour worth noting: sources suggest the Galaxy Z Flip 8 could be the final model in Samsung’s clamshell foldable line, with the company potentially stepping back from the flip form factor after this generation. Samsung has not commented on that claim. The July 22 event will tell the full story.
