Sunseeker is using IFA 2026 in Berlin to demonstrate its next S-Series robotic lawn mowers, with the S7 LiDAR Ultra AWD 3000 and S5 LiDAR Ultra AWD 1800 aimed at different garden sizes. The company’s presentation matters because it shows how consumer robotics is moving beyond simple scheduled mowing. The focus is now on mapping, obstacle recognition, boundaries and lawn-specific decisions.

The S7 is the larger model. Sunseeker says its AllSense 2.0 system combines 360-degree LiDAR with AI vision to create a spatial model of the garden and recognize more than 360 types of obstacles. The mower is designed for lawns up to 3,000 square meters and uses all-wheel drive for slopes as steep as 80 percent, or roughly 39 degrees. It also supports two-dimensional and three-dimensional maps through the company’s MapOS software.

That software layer is important for everyday use. Owners can edit boundaries, create no-go areas and manage different zones instead of treating the whole garden as one open rectangle. Multiple maps could also help households with separated lawn areas, although real-world performance will depend on the layout, lighting and the accuracy of the initial scan.

The S5 carries the same basic mapping approach for gardens up to 1,800 square meters. It includes all-wheel drive, MapOS controls and a cut-to-edge disc, while the S7 adds a broader accessory ecosystem through an Extension Hub and optional EdgeZero trimmer head.

Sunseeker is also presenting a wider Smart Garden platform that connects mower data with rainfall, weather, soil conditions and lawn-health monitoring. The goal is to turn those inputs into care recommendations rather than leaving the mower as an isolated appliance.

The practical question is not only whether a mower can navigate autonomously. Buyers should also ask how boundaries are corrected, what happens when an obstacle is misidentified, how maps are stored, and whether the service continues to work when connectivity is limited. A reliable local stop control, clear no-go zones and transparent data handling are as important as cutting performance.
