Tesla of Motorcycles OMOWAY OMO-X Self-Balancing Bike Nears Production

By Beauty NishaMarch 18, 20263 Mins Read

The Tesla of Motorcycles claim is moving closer to reality as Singapore-based OMOWAY prepares to bring its self-balancing OMO-X electric bike into production. The company says pre-orders will begin at the end of April, followed by an official launch in May. The model is designed to reduce one of the biggest fears riders face, losing balance at low speed or while stopping.

The announcement has drawn attention across the electric mobility space. It reflects a broader push to make two-wheelers safer and easier to use, especially for new riders and urban commuters.

A new approach to stability and control on two wheels

At the core of the OMO-X is OMOWAY’s proprietary HALO Pilot system. It combines vision processing with a self-balancing mechanism that keeps the motorcycle upright even in slow traffic conditions. The system constantly adjusts using a gyroscope and software that reacts to rider movement and road conditions.

The bike includes several features more commonly seen in cars. These include adaptive cruise control, one-touch parking, and a summon function that allows remote movement. A digital key system is also built in, allowing users to unlock and authorize access without a physical key.

The OMO-X is equipped with a 10.25-inch smart cockpit display. It provides real-time navigation and charging station data. The system also supports vehicle-to-vehicle communication, allowing riders to share routes and coordinate group rides.

Modes designed for different riding needs

OMOWAY has designed three riding modes for the OMO-X. Scooter Mode is focused on simple, lightweight commuting. It is intended for single riders with minimal load.

Street Mode adds flexibility with support for accessories and moderate load changes. The software adjusts performance and balance accordingly. GT Mode is built for longer trips, allowing additional luggage and higher speed settings.

In each mode, the self-balancing system adapts its response based on speed, terrain, and weight distribution. The aim is to remove the need for constant manual balance control, especially in stop-and-go traffic.

Backers, production plans, and market focus

OMOWAY was founded by a co-founder of a major Chinese electric vehicle company. The startup operates from Singapore, with development work in Guangzhou and manufacturing planned in Jakarta. The company has secured funding in the tens of millions of US dollars to support production.

Southeast Asia is expected to be the first major market. The region has high demand for two-wheelers and growing interest in electric mobility. OMOWAY has also indicated plans to expand globally after the initial launch.

There is still some uncertainty around timelines and rollout beyond Asia. However, the backing and technical approach suggest the project is moving beyond concept stage into real-world deployment.

The Tesla of Motorcycles narrative around OMOWAY’s OMO-X reflects a shift in how electric bikes are being designed. With self-balancing technology moving toward production, the focus is now on whether it can deliver consistent performance in everyday conditions.

FYI (keeping you in the loop)-

What is a self-balancing motorcycle?

A self-balancing motorcycle uses sensors, gyroscopes, and software to stay upright without rider input. It helps reduce the risk of tipping, especially at low speeds.

When will the OMOWAY OMO-X be available?

Pre-orders are expected to begin at the end of April, with an official launch planned in May. Availability may start in Southeast Asia first.

Is the OMO-X suitable for beginners?

Yes, the self-balancing feature is designed to help new riders. It reduces the need for balance control, making riding easier in traffic.
