President Donald Trump’s approval rating has fallen to 33% in a Reuters/Ipsos poll, the lowest level recorded in that polling series during his current presidency. The approval-rating query was among the fastest-rising searches in the United States on August 21.

Reuters reported that 64% of respondents disapproved of Trump’s performance in the White House. The four-day poll concluded on August 17, as respondents also expressed concern that the United States war with Iran could continue for a long time. The result marked a two-point decline from the earlier Reuters/Ipsos reading cited in the coverage.
An AP-NORC topline released in July provides a separate snapshot of the political environment. It showed 32% approval for Trump’s handling of the economy and 66% disapproval on that measure, while overall presidential approval in the survey’s historical table was 33% for the July field period.
Polls measure opinion during a defined field period and should not be read as election results. Reuters’ survey was conducted online among U.S. adults, and the reported figures reflect the respondents included in that poll rather than a count of all voters or a forecast of the November midterms.
The decline is politically significant because Trump’s approval is being watched alongside economic concerns and the Iran conflict. Still, one poll cannot establish a lasting trend. Future Reuters/Ipsos and AP-NORC measurements will show whether the 33% result is a temporary shift or part of a broader change in public opinion.
