Vivo launched the X Fold6 in China on June 26, 2026, with a 200MP main camera — the first foldable phone to use a Zeiss APO super periscope telephoto lens — and a 7,000mAh battery that sets a new bar for foldable phone endurance.

The X Fold6 runs on the Dimensity 9500 Super, which Vivo describes as a processor specifically tuned for large-screen foldable form factors. The phone’s inner and outer displays both use Samsung’s M14 luminous material — a first for any foldable device on the market.

Camera and Display Specifications

The 200MP sensor on the main camera pairs with Vivo’s V3+ imaging chip and the Zeiss APO periscope telephoto lens. The inner display measures 8.02 inches. Both screens carry the M14 panel for what Vivo says is the most accurate colour reproduction on a foldable to date.

The X Fold6 also carries IPX8 and IPX9 ratings — waterproof to 1.5 metres and resistant to high-pressure water jets. Most foldable phones carry basic splash resistance at best. Dual IPX ratings at this level are uncommon in any phone category, let alone a foldable.

How It Compares to the Competition

Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Huawei’s Mate X5 are the X Fold6’s primary rivals in China. Vivo is positioning this phone above both on camera capability, with the Zeiss partnership providing real hardware differentiation rather than a co-branding badge.

The Dimensity 9500 Super is not Qualcomm. In international markets that matters to some buyers. Inside China, where Qualcomm’s pricing and availability have been volatile, it’s a non-issue.

Availability and Colours

The X Fold6 launched in China on June 26 in Blue, Salt Lake, and Polar Night. Global availability has not been confirmed. Vivo’s European and Southeast Asian markets typically follow a Chinese launch by two to three months.

The X Fold6 makes the argument that foldable phones are finally serious camera devices. That argument is harder to dismiss when a Zeiss APO periscope lens is behind it.
