Xiaomi has quietly expanded its entry-level smartphone lineup in India with the introduction of two new 4G devices under the Redmi A7 series. The company has brought in both a standard Redmi A7 4G and a slightly upgraded Redmi A7 Pro 4G, following the earlier debut of the 5G variant in the same lineup.

At a glance, the two phones are closely aligned in design and core specifications, with only a few practical differences separating them. Both models feature large displays aimed at users who prefer a more immersive screen experience at a lower price point. The Redmi A7 4G comes with a 6.88-inch LCD panel, while the Pro variant stretches slightly further to 6.9 inches. Each supports a 120Hz refresh rate and a 240Hz touch sampling rate, paired with HD+ resolution.
Inside, Xiaomi has opted for the same processor across both devices. The Unisoc T7250 chipset powers the two handsets, paired with up to 4GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 64GB of internal storage. There is also support for microSD expansion, a feature that remains relevant in this segment where storage demands often exceed built-in capacity.
Camera hardware does not differ between the two models. Both the Redmi A7 4G and A7 Pro 4G use a 13-megapixel main rear camera, accompanied by an 8-megapixel front-facing sensor for selfies and video calls. The setup reflects a focus on basic photography needs rather than advanced imaging capabilities.
Battery capacity marks one of the clearer distinctions. The standard variant carries a 5,200mAh battery, while the Pro model steps up to a 6,300mAh unit. Charging speeds remain modest, with both devices supporting 15W wired charging and 7.5W reverse wired charging.
The software experience differs slightly. The Redmi A7 4G runs on HyperOS 2 based on Android 15, while the Pro version ships with HyperOS 3 built on Android 16. Xiaomi has also outlined different update commitments, with the standard model set to receive two years of Android updates and four years of security patches. The Pro variant is expected to get longer support, including four years of Android upgrades and six years of security updates.
Both phones include features now considered standard even in budget devices, such as a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, dual-SIM support, Bluetooth 5.2, Wi-Fi connectivity, GPS, a USB Type-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. They also carry an IP52 rating for basic dust and splash resistance.
Pricing places the devices firmly in the budget category. The Redmi A7 4G is available in a single 3GB and 64GB configuration, priced at INR 10,499. The Redmi A7 Pro 4G, with 4GB RAM and the same storage, is priced at INR 11,499.

Xiaomi says both models will go on sale in India starting April 24 through its official online store, Flipkart, and offline retail outlets. The rollout adds to the companyâs ongoing push to maintain a strong presence in the lower end of the smartphone market, where competition remains steady and price sensitivity continues to shape buying decisions.
