Redmi has officially confirmed that the Redmi Turbo 5 series will debut in China on January 29, featuring two models — the Redmi Turbo 5 and the xiaomi redmi turbo 5 max. Lu Weibing, President of Xiaomi Group and General Manager of the Redmi brand, shared details via Weibo, outlining the strategic direction of the Turbo series and positioning it as a major mid-range performance lineup.

According to Lu Weibing, the Turbo series is designed to bridge the gap between mainstream and flagship smartphones, targeting the highly competitive 2,500 yuan price segment. Despite rising component costs, Redmi aims to maintain strong performance and value through the Turbo lineup, focusing on speed, stability, and long-term usability.

Weibing also highlighted the success of previous Turbo models, including last year’s Turbo Pro variants, which delivered strong early sales and helped reshape consumer perception of performance-focused mid-range devices. This success has allowed Redmi to further advance the Turbo series with the latest generation.

Xiaomi Redmi Turbo 5 Max hardware highlights

The main highlight of the launch is the xiaomi redmi turbo 5 max, which adopts a more aggressive hardware approach than the standard model. Lu Weibing confirmed that the Turbo 5 Max will debut with the Dimensity 9500s chipset, marking the first use of a flagship-grade Dimensity 9000-class processor in the Turbo series. Redmi claims the device is tuned to challenge smartphones priced above the 4,000 yuan segment.

According to Weibing, real-world endurance may surpass some competitors with larger-rated batteries. Redmi is also emphasising premium build quality, refined design, improved haptics, and comprehensive water resistance to deliver a near-flagship experience at a more accessible price point.

Design and model differences

Redmi has shared official images showing the Redmi Turbo 5 in white and the xiaomi redmi turbo 5 max in orange. The Turbo 5 will feature a 6.59-inch display and a Dimensity 8500 chipset, while the Turbo 5 Max will come with a larger 6.83-inch screen. Both models are expected to include a 9,000mAh battery and support 100W fast charging.
