The latest 99x atlanta update is a frequency realignment announced by Cumulus Media for its Atlanta radio portfolio. The company said it is pursuing the sale of its 97.9 FM translator while changing the signals used by OG and 99X. The announcement was issued on May 9, 2026.

Under the plan, OG, described by Cumulus as Atlanta’s classic hip-hop station, will move from 97.9 FM to 98.9 FM. The station will also move from WWWQ-FM/HD3 to WWWQ-FM/HD2. Cumulus said OG will continue to be simulcast temporarily on both 97.9 FM and 98.9 FM until the translator sale is completed.

99X, identified by Cumulus as WNNX-FM, will continue to air on 100.5 FM. The station will discontinue its simulcast on 98.9 FM and WWWQ-FM/HD2 as the realignment takes effect. Barrett Media reported the same changes in its May 11 coverage of the Atlanta radio dial.

The buyer of the 97.9 FM translator and a closing timetable were not identified in the company’s announcement. Cumulus said the changes are intended to improve signal efficiency and support its brands in the Atlanta market.

The official 99X Atlanta website continues to identify the station as 99X Atlanta and WNNX-FM. The confirmed change, therefore, concerns the station’s simulcast arrangement, while its 100.5 FM signal remains the central frequency named in the latest company and trade reports.
