Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Set for July 22 Launch With Creaseless Display

By Saumya SarakarJune 17, 20263 Mins Read

Samsung will officially unveil the Galaxy Z Fold 8 on July 22, 2026, at a Galaxy Unpacked event, bringing with it a new creaseless foldable display technology that the company says addresses the most persistent complaint from users of previous Fold models.

The device will feature a 7.6-inch inner display built with a panel designed to eliminate the visible fold line that has been a defining characteristic of every generation since the original Galaxy Fold launched in 2019. Samsung’s display division has worked on the new hinge and layer composition for two years, targeting the near-invisible crease already achieved by competing foldables from Oppo.

Samsung is also expected to announce a Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide at the same event, offering a broader aspect ratio for the outer display that addresses another common criticism: the narrow, elongated screen that made the Fold series feel impractical as a phone when closed.

Both devices will run on the Snapdragon 8 Gen Elite 5 for Galaxy processor, the same chip family that powers Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S series in 2026. RAM is confirmed at 12GB with storage options starting at 256GB. Battery capacity will be 5,000 mAh on the standard model.

The announcement comes as Apple is widely expected to release its first foldable iPhone, potentially called the iPhone Ultra, later this year. That device is expected to include iOS 27, a 5,500 mAh battery and up to 1TB of storage. The timing of Samsung’s July 22 event places the Galaxy Z Fold 8 in market several months ahead of Apple’s expected autumn release window.

Samsung’s foldable line has consistently led the market in sales volume, but margins and premium perception have lagged behind Apple’s standard iPhone lineup. The creaseless display is seen internally as the feature most likely to shift that perception among consumers who have been watching the category without committing to a purchase.

Pre-order information has not been announced, but Samsung’s typical release pattern suggests the Galaxy Z Fold 8 will go on sale within two to three weeks of the July 22 unveiling. Pricing is expected to remain close to the Z Fold 7’s launch price, though the Wide variant may carry a premium over the standard model. The Galaxy Z Fold series has found its strongest audience among productivity-focused users who use the large inner screen for reading, note-taking and multi-window tasks. Samsung’s software for the Fold line has also matured, with dedicated apps and system-level features that take advantage of the larger canvas in ways earlier Fold software did not.

July 22 is five weeks away. Samsung is expected to begin teasing specific features through its official channels in the coming days ahead of the formal announcement at the Unpacked event.
