What’s Coming First
Late 2026: A new entry-level MacBook Pro with the M6 chip, plus high-end 14-inch and 16-inch models with M5 Pro and M5 Max chips. These high-end machines will be Apple’s first MacBook Pros with OLED displays and no notch—just an iPhone-style Dynamic Island for the camera.
Early 2027: Updated MacBook Air and a redesigned 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M7 chip. The M7 entry-level model won’t get OLED, but it will get the same design refresh as the pricier machines.
The AI Angle
Apple is positioning these machines for AI. More powerful processors mean faster neural networks and better on-device AI. Developers building AI tools on Mac will have new hardware to target.
This is a direct response to Microsoft and Google pushing AI-capable Windows laptops and Chromebooks.
Desktop Refresh
