Border box office collection day: Border 2 storms past records on extended opening weekend

By Tarek HasanJanuary 27, 20263 Mins Read

Anurag Singh’s period war drama Border 2, led by Sunny Deol, has delivered a historic performance at the domestic box office. Benefiting from the Republic Day holiday, the border box office collection day figures show a massive surge, making it the highest-grossing Hindi film of the year so far. The film has also crossed the first four-day collections of several major releases, while its worldwide gross now stands at Rs 236.20 crore.

Border 2 extended opening weekend

The border box office collection day numbers saw their biggest jump on Monday (day 4), when the film earned Rs 63.59 crore, its highest single-day total so far. This was an increase from Sunday’s Rs 57.20 crore. Earlier, the film collected Rs 40.59 crore on Saturday and Rs 32.10 crore on its opening day.

According to T-Series, the total extended opening weekend collection in India has reached Rs 193.48 crore. With this, Border 2 has become the first Hindi film of the year to cross the Rs 100 crore mark. It has also surpassed the domestic earnings of The Raja Saab (Rs 143 crore), emerging as the second highest-grossing Indian film of 2026 so far.

The film now trails only Mana ShankaraVaraprasad Garu, which stands at Rs 196.97 crore after 15 days. If the current border box office collection day trend continues, Border 2 could soon claim the top position.

Border 2 vs Dhurandhar

Border 2 has managed to interrupt the strong run of Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar. While Dhurandhar has amassed Rs 889.80 crore domestically, a comparison of their first four days highlights Border 2’s advantage.

Dhurandhar earned Rs 126.25 crore in its first four days, whereas Border 2 benefitted from the Republic Day holiday window to surge ahead in the same period. The patriotic appeal of the franchise played a key role in boosting the border box office collection day figures.

Border 2 vs past Republic Day releases

In terms of Republic Day releases, Border 2 has outperformed several major films. Padmaavat earned Rs 114 crore in its extended opening weekend, significantly lower than Border 2’s current total. The film has also crossed the first four-day collections of Fighter (Rs 118.50 crore) and Sky Force (Rs 92.30 crore).

However, it remains behind Pathaan, which amassed Rs 220 crore in its first four days. Still, the consistent upward trend in border box office collection day figures places Border 2 among the strongest Republic Day performers in recent years.

The border box office collection day performance of Border 2 reflects a powerful extended opening weekend driven by the Republic Day holiday and strong audience turnout. With Rs 193.48 crore domestically in four days and Rs 236.20 crore worldwide, the film has already set new benchmarks for 2026 and continues to challenge existing records.
