Konami confirmed that Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse will release October 15, 2026 across Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S. The game marks the franchise’s first new entry since 2014 and arrives in commemoration of Castlevania’s 40th anniversary.

Rose Belmont, daughter of the legendary Dracula-slayer Trevor, takes center stage in a side-scrolling adventure set in 1499 Paris. Armed with the Belmont family whip “Vampire Killer,” she explores the city’s streets and Dracula’s castle, fighting monsters and unraveling a 23-year mystery.
The Development Behind It
Motion Twin, the studio behind Dead Cells, collaborated with Konami and Evil Empire in an advisory role. They co-developed the Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania expansion in 2023, which paved the way for this full release. The partnership brings modern indie sensibilities to a classic franchise.
Castlevania fans have waited a decade for a new mainline game. The franchise has had spin-offs and remakes, but nothing new in the core series since Lords of Shadow 2. Belmont’s Curse is Konami’s signal that Castlevania’s story isn’t finished.
What to Expect
Expect fast-paced 2D action with whip mechanics, monster varieties, and environmental puzzles. The side-scrolling format hearkens to the franchise’s roots while the modern development suggests contemporary level design and combat flow. Pre-orders are open now, with a Midnight Edition announced alongside the standard release.
Franchises this old survive by respecting their past while not being slaves to it. Belmont’s Curse seems to understand that balance.
