Anthropic expanded Claude’s Cowork feature to mobile and web this July. Cowork now runs on claude.ai and iOS/Android apps, letting users start AI tasks and close the app while work continues in the background.

Scheduled tasks now run without the device being online. A task started on a phone at 2 p.m. executes at 6 p.m. automatically, whether the phone is asleep or the user is elsewhere.
What Cowork Does
Cowork is Anthropic’s answer to multi-step automation. Users define workflows—research a topic, organize findings, summarize results, post to a dashboard. Claude executes the sequence, handling errors and calling external tools without interruption.
The mobile expansion means professionals can trigger complex work from anywhere. Close your laptop. The task keeps running. Check back when it’s done.
New Enterprise Features Arrived Too
Claude Enterprise got richer admin analytics, model-level entitlements, and spend alerts. Admins can now see exactly who uses what model, track costs by team, and set policies. This matters for large organizations managing multiple AI tools.
Anthropic also launched self-serve HIPAA configuration for Enterprise and API users, letting healthcare organizations enable compliance in one step with Business Associate Agreement review included.
The Broader Picture
AI tooling is shifting from single-task chat to background automation. Users want Claude to do work while they focus on what only humans can do. This changes the business model too—from usage-based to outcome-based pricing could follow.
The battle for AI isn’t about who has the smartest model anymore. It’s about who gets embedded deepest in your workflow.
FYI (keeping you in the loop)
What’s the difference between Cowork and regular Claude?
Regular Claude answers questions in chat. Cowork lets you build multi-step workflows that run automatically, call external tools, and execute on a schedule. It’s automation, not conversation.
