DJI Mic Mini 2S Brings Onboard Recording to Wireless Lavalier Microphones

By Soniya ChowdhuryJuly 27, 20262 Mins Read

DJI launched the Mic Mini 2S wireless microphone in China on July 2, 2026, a sleek update to its compact lavalier system. The device pairs a clip-on transmitter weighing just 12 grams with a receiver that handles up to four simultaneous transmitters. The refresh adds onboard recording so audio persists even if the wireless signal drops—a feature that solves a real problem for videographers.

Small Mic, Big Feature Set

The Mic Mini 2S keeps the core appeal of its predecessor: simplicity and lightweight form factor. Clip it on, hit record, and you’re done. But this generation adds confidence. If signal cuts out mid-interview, the audio continues recording to the transmitter’s internal storage. After the shoot, sync the footage and you recover every word.

AI noise reduction handles wind and background chatter, a feature that improves incrementally year after year as DJI refines its algorithms. The system supports both USB-C and 3.5mm connections for flexibility across cameras and recorders.

The Wait for US Availability

DJI launched the Mic Mini 2S in China July 2, but hasn’t yet announced US pricing or FCC clearance status. The original Mic Mini faced regulatory delays in the US market, so patience is likely required. For creators in regions where it’s available, the upgrade path is clear. For US customers, watch for an announcement in the coming weeks.

The competitive landscape includes wireless mics from Rode, Sennheiser, and newcomers, but DJI’s integration with its own cameras and ecosystem remains a draw for videographers already invested in the brand.

Why It Matters

Wireless audio is a solved problem in broadcast. Making it work reliably for solo creators and small teams is still improving. Onboard recording as a fallback removes one layer of anxiety from shoot days. Small gains compound into better workflows.

The best gear gets out of your way. The Mic Mini 2S is DJI getting better at staying invisible.
