Galaxy Z Fold 8 Appears Alongside Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra in New Certification Listings

By Tarek HasanJune 4, 20263 Mins Read

Samsung appears to be preparing two versions of its next foldable flagship, with fresh certification records providing the clearest indication yet that an Ultra-branded model is on the way.

Galaxy Z Fold 8

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra has surfaced in the Bluetooth SIG database, where five separate entries have been recorded under what are understood to be different variants of the same device. While the listings do not reveal hardware specifications or product features, they add weight to earlier reports suggesting Samsung intends to introduce an Ultra version within its foldable lineup.

The certification records are notable because they come from official documentation rather than unofficial claims. Although the database offers little beyond the device name and model references, the appearance of “Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra” suggests Samsung is preparing a more clearly differentiated naming strategy for its next-generation foldables.

Recent expectations surrounding the lineup indicate that Samsung may reserve the standard Galaxy Z Fold 8 name for a shorter and wider version of the device. Under that approach, the wider model would carry no additional identifier, remaining simply the Galaxy Z Fold 8.

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, meanwhile, is expected to occupy the position originally associated with what many believed would be the main successor to the current generation. Reports referenced alongside the certification findings suggest the device will retain a footprint similar to that of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 while introducing a number of refinements intended to justify the Ultra branding.

Among the details previously linked to the device are a 5,000mAh battery and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor. The handset is also said to measure approximately 4.1mm when unfolded, potentially making it thinner and slightly lighter than earlier models in the series.

None of those specifications are confirmed by the Bluetooth SIG records themselves. The certification entries serve only as evidence that Samsung has registered a device carrying the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra name, leaving questions about hardware and positioning unanswered for now.

For the moment, the most significant development is the naming itself. After months of discussion around Samsung’s foldable plans, the appearance of Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra in an official certification database provides the strongest indication yet that the company intends to extend its Ultra branding into the foldable category.

As with many early certifications, the listings reveal only a small part of the picture. What they do establish is that Samsung’s next foldable lineup may be broader than previously expected, with the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra potentially serving distinct roles within the range.
