Google announced on July 7 that it will debut the Pixel 11 series at a Made by Google event on August 12, 2026, at 6 PM ET in New York City.

The timing gives Google a head start over Apple, which is expected to announce new iPhones in September. It’s also a sharp move—rival Samsung already showed its Z Fold 8 foldables in July, and Apple’s own foldable iPhone remains months away.
What to Expect
Google will unveil the Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL, and Pixel 11 Pro Fold. The regular Pixel 11 line typically focuses on solid everyday performance and excellent computational photography. The Pro models and foldable should emphasize camera prowess and AI features.
Retail availability begins August 20, with pre-orders opening on announcement day.
The Foldable Wild Card
The Pixel 11 Pro Fold is the real story here. Google has been quietly iterating on its foldable design while Samsung and Apple grabbed headlines. A foldable Pixel would give Google a direct competitor to Samsung’s Z Fold 8 and position it ahead of Apple’s coming iPhone foldable.
AI Integration
These phones will ship with Gemini as the default assistant. Google has been aggressively integrating Gemini into Android, and the Pixel 11 will showcase that integration. Expect on-device AI features that don’t require internet connectivity.
The evening announcement time suggests Google wants this event to feel premium and different from typical phone launches. They’re betting the Pixel 11 can compete directly with iPhone.
