Early Geekbench entries for Apple’s A20 Pro chip have appeared for the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. MacRumors reported the results on September 10, while Apple’s product material provides the confirmed chip design and its own performance claims.
The iPhone 18 Pro entry recorded a single-core score of 4,719 and a multi-core score of 12,677. The Pro Max entry recorded 4,725 in single-core testing and 12,575 in multi-core testing. Both entries identify a six-core CPU running at roughly 4.93GHz.
The graphics entries also point to a higher result for the new seven-core GPU than the six-core GPU in the A19 Pro. MacRumors estimated a gain of about 38 to 40 percent from the early Metal scores, but the publication stressed that the results are unconfirmed and come from early database entries.
Apple’s official announcement gives a separate benchmark context. The company says A20 Pro has a six-core CPU, a seven-core GPU and a dual 16-core Neural Engine. It claims up to 20 percent faster CPU performance and up to 40 percent faster graphics than the A19 Pro.
The public entries are useful because they show individual test runs rather than an Apple comparison chart. They are not a substitute for a review. A single phone can score differently because of software versions, temperature, battery state and the exact test configuration.
The A20 Pro also uses a 2-nanometer process and includes Neural Accelerators in the GPU, according to Apple. Apple says the chip has 50 percent more memory bandwidth and is designed to sustain higher performance with a redesigned thermal system.
The early results suggest that the new iPhone may have a meaningful processing lead, but they do not establish gaming frame rates, battery life or long-session performance. Those questions require independent testing after retail units reach customers. Preorders for the iPhone 18 Pro models open September 12.
