ZOOMBANGLA DESK: Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud today said the communal evil forces carried out the attacks at Pirganj with an intention of making the government questionable.

“The government is determined to crack down on the evil forces with iron hand. They had a plan to stage such incidents across the country. But, it was possible to control those crimes due to the steps taken by the government,” he told newsmen at his Secretariat office here.

The minister said arson attacks were carried out at Pirganj at night and it is clear that they choose the place (Pirganj) to make the government questionable. Police fired in Chandpur on them who created unstable situation and different media of neighbouring India praised the step of the government, he added.

Hasan, also Awami League joint general secretary, urged the countrymen to remain united against the all evil communal forces and other culprits.

He said the all leaders and workers of Awami League have already been asked to stay beside minority communities and they have already stood beside them. “The evil communal forces had a plan to carry out such incidents at different places across the country. But, it was not possible as the leaders and activists of our party stood beside the minority community,” he added.

The minister said BNP-Jamaat and fundamentalists groups tried to create anarchy at different times. Even, they tried to create unstable situation marking the Duga Puja, he added.

Hasan said the government is controlling their ill efforts and several cases were lodged and many were arrested.
