Realme’s new budget phone, the 16x 5G, went on sale in India this week, built around a 7,000mAh battery and a 144Hz display aimed squarely at buyers who want long screen time over flagship polish.

The phone launched August 12 and started shipping days later, with prices starting at Rs 23,999 for the base 4GB RAM and 128GB storage option, according to Gadgets360. A 6GB RAM variant with 256GB storage is also available, and Realme is running introductory bank offers worth around Rs 2,000 during the opening sale window.

Under the hood sits a MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset paired with a Mali G57 MC2 GPU, according to GSMArena’s spec listing. That is a modest processor built for everyday tasks rather than heavy gaming, which fits the phone’s budget positioning.

The 6.81 inch IPS LCD screen runs at up to 144Hz with a typical brightness of 975 nits, climbing to 1200 nits at peak. Resolution stays at 720×1570, a tradeoff Realme has leaned on before to keep costs down while still advertising a fast refresh rate.

Camera hardware is basic for the segment. There is a single 50 megapixel main sensor with autofocus on the back and an 8 megapixel selfie camera up front, with no telephoto or ultrawide lens included.

The battery is the phone’s real selling point. Realme fitted a 7,000mAh silicon carbon cell with 45W wired charging, along with 7W reverse wired charging and bypass charging support, useful for anyone who games while plugged in.

The phone also carries an IP65 rating against dust and water jets, plus MIL-STD-810H durability certification and a claimed drop resistance up to 1.8 meters, unusual protection for a phone in this price bracket. It ships in Endurance Brown and Glory White, running Android 16 with a promise of two major OS updates.
