Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra at its Unpacked event in London on July 22, 2026, introducing an “Ultra” tier to the Fold line for the first time. The device is the thinnest Galaxy Z Fold yet at 4.1 millimeters when unfolded and the lightest at 215 grams, powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset.

The 8.0-inch inner Flex Titanium display and 6.5-inch cover screen are built for outdoor visibility. The 5,000mAh Silicon Carbon battery supports 45W wired charging. The triple camera system matches the flagship Galaxy S26 Ultra: 200MP primary with triple telephoto configuration. Pricing starts at $2,099.99 USD, ships August 7, 2026.
First Ultra, Most Refined
The Fold line has matured. Early generations were engineering showpieces—impressive, fragile, proof-of-concept. The Fold 8 Ultra is a finished product. The screens are more durable. The hinge gap is smaller. The weight is practical. Samsung has spent three generations iterating away the gimmick and toward genuine usability.
Multitasking is the real story. An 8-inch unfolded display lets you run two full-size applications side by side and still have screen height for notifications or chat. That changes how you work. iPads do this, but foldables do it in a device you carry in a pocket.
Who It’s For
Professionals and power users willing to pay for an edge. Content creators editing media on a foldable screen. Developers building apps on a device that tests true mobile multitasking. Business users managing email and calendar simultaneously. The Ultra positioning signals Samsung knows this isn’t a mass-market device—not yet.
Reviews have been strong. Engadget praised refinement and outdoor visibility. Tom’s Guide noted the thinness feels substantial, not fragile. GSMArena highlighted battery improvements and charging speed. Nobody called it revolutionary, but everyone called it competent.
FYI (keeping you in the loop)
Will there be a non-Ultra Fold 8?
Yes. Samsung also released the Galaxy Z Fold 8 (standard) at the same event, a refinement of the Fold 7 with modest improvements.
