The Yamaha YZF-R2 has made its global debut in India, giving the search term “yamaha yzf r2” a confirmed launch story rather than a pre-release rumour. India Today reported that India Yamaha Motor launched the motorcycle at a starting price of Rs 2,30,500, ex-showroom in Delhi. BikeWale reported the same starting price and said deliveries are scheduled to begin in mid-September 2026.

Both reports describe a three-variant range. BikeWale listed the standard YZF-R2 at Rs 2,30,500, the YZF-R2 with a quick shifter at Rs 2,39,500 and the YZF-R2 M at Rs 2,53,000. The base version is listed with Metallic Black and Dark Bluish Gray, the quick-shifter version with Matte White Pearl and Racing Blue, and the M version with Metallic Gray. The prices are ex-showroom figures, so they do not represent a final on-road cost in every location.

The motorcycle uses a newly developed 204cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine. India Today reported output of 26.5bhp and 19.1Nm of peak torque, while BikeWale also confirmed the 204cc engine and 19.1Nm figure but listed a different power figure. Because the outlets do not match on that one specification, this article does not treat the power number as a single settled figure. The engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox, according to BikeWale.

India Today reported that the YZF-R2 has a 149kg kerb weight, a 37mm upside-down front fork, a rear monoshock, 17-inch wheels, dual-channel ABS, traction control and an assist-and-slipper clutch. Those details place the launch within Yamaha’s R-series range while keeping the report tied to the manufacturer information described by the outlet.

The quick-shifter variant adds a third-generation bi-directional quick shifter, according to India Today. The YZF-R2 M also adds adjustable front forks, rear shock absorbers, clutch and brake levers, a faux-suede-finished seat, an embossed emblem and a different swingarm finish. The report said the M version also includes a Smart Key system.

Yamaha Ride Control offers Street, Sport and Rain modes, and the motorcycle has a five-inch full-colour TFT display with ride and navigation information, India Today reported. The outlet said the motorcycle will be available through Yamaha’s Blue Square dealerships from mid-September. The confirmed news is therefore the India launch, variant pricing, equipment list and planned delivery window; top-speed claims or local on-road prices need separate verified evidence.
