Yash’s Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups opened with a worldwide gross of about ₹140.75 crore, according to the latest box-office reports. The film earned ₹101.10 crore net in India and ₹120.75 crore gross in the domestic market on its first day, while the overseas gross was reported at ₹20 crore.
The figures were reported by India Today and The Indian Express on Aug. 27, a day after the Geetu Mohandas-directed film reached cinemas. The Indian Express said the film ran across 24,579 shows on Wednesday and placed the opening among the biggest first-day performances in Indian cinema. India Today reported the same worldwide total while comparing the opening with other recent releases.
The Yash Toxic movie box office result gives the film a strong starting position after a long pre-release campaign. India Today reported that the actor’s return to theatres after KGF: Chapter 2 had created heightened expectations. The film was released in multiple Indian languages and drew audiences across markets on Aug. 26.
The opening did not surpass every benchmark used in the comparisons. India Today said Toxic’s India net figure was below Yash’s KGF 2 opening and below several other major Indian releases in the table published with its report. The newspaper also said the worldwide total was below the opening figures recorded by films including KGF 2, RRR, Baahubali 2 and Pushpa 2.
Hindustan Times separately reported that the film exceeded pre-release projections and crossed ₹100 crore net in India. It described the opening as the second-biggest in Kannada cinema, while noting that the movie also released in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. The film is rated A, and its performance will now depend on subsequent days rather than the first-day total alone.
The current story is a box-office update, separate from earlier trailer, review and pre-release coverage of Toxic. Trade figures can be revised as collections are reconciled, and the reports use industry tracking data rather than an audited financial statement from the producers. Day-two and weekend figures will provide the next evidence of how the opening converts into a sustained theatrical run.
