AMD Radeon RX 7000 Series Gains FSR 4.1 Support in July, RX 9050 Launches

By Yousuf ParvezAugust 1, 20263 Mins Read

AMD is expanding FSR 4.1 support to its older Radeon RX 7000 series graphics cards in July, bringing the company’s latest upscaling technology to more gamers. The update marks a significant milestone for the red chipmaker’s push to democratize advanced gaming features across its GPU lineup.

FSR 4.1 was exclusive to the Radeon RX 9000 series since its launch, but that changes this month. Owners of RDNA 3-powered RX 7000 cards will gain access to the ML-based upscaling tech, which improves gaming performance with minimal visual quality loss. AMD plans to support over 300 games by the time the update rolls out.

Entry-Level Option: RX 9050 Arrives

In quieter news, AMD quietly launched the Radeon RX 9050, its latest entry-level GPU for budget-conscious gamers. The card targets the value segment of the market, offering a more affordable path into AMD’s current-generation lineup.

The timing is notable as competition in the budget GPU space remains intense. This launch gives gamers more options below the mainstream price tier, particularly for entry-level 1080p gaming.

Price Increases on the Horizon

AMD has informed its partners that Radeon bundle prices are rising 10% in July. The increase affects bundle deals combining GPUs with memory, and will likely ripple down to consumer pricing as retailers adjust margins.

The price hike comes as AMD weighs profitability against market demand. Partners like ASUS and Sapphire will feel the squeeze, potentially passing costs to gamers.

FSR 4.1 for RX 6000 Series Coming Later

AMD is also working to bring FSR 4.1 to the older RDNA 2-powered RX 6000 series, but that rollout is expected in 2027. The staggered approach gives AMD time to ensure stability and game compatibility across its broad GPU family.

For gamers holding RX 7000 cards, this update signals AMD’s commitment to keeping older hardware competitive in an increasingly demanding gaming landscape.

FYI (keeping you in the loop)

What’s FSR 4.1 and why should gamers care?

FSR 4.1 is AMD’s machine learning-powered upscaling technology. It renders games at lower resolution, then uses AI to upscale to native resolution with minimal quality loss. This boosts frame rates while maintaining visual fidelity, giving gamers better performance in demanding titles.
