Apple MacBook Neo brings budget pricing with familiar Mac design
The MacBook Neo keeps Apple’s thin notebook design but introduces a more colorful look. The aluminum chassis comes in four finishes: Silver, Indigo, Blush, and Citrus.
The laptop weighs about 1.23 kg and measures 1.27 cm thick, placing it close to the MacBook Air in size and portability. Its design signals a focus on students and casual users who want a lightweight Mac at a lower price.
The display measures 13 inches and uses Apple’s Liquid Retina panel with a resolution of 2408×1506 pixels. Brightness reaches 500 nits, matching the MacBook Air, although the panel supports the sRGB color space rather than the wider P3 color used in higher-end MacBooks.
True Tone technology is not included, meaning the screen does not automatically adjust color temperature to match surrounding lighting conditions. The display remains suitable for everyday work but is less targeted at professional creative tasks.
A18 Pro chip powers the MacBook Neo
The most notable detail in the Apple MacBook Neo specifications is the processor. Instead of Apple’s M-series chips, the laptop runs on the A18 Pro chip, the same processor used in the iPhone 16 Pro.
The chip includes a 6-core CPU and a 5-core GPU. Apple’s mobile processors share architecture with the company’s desktop chips, allowing the laptop to run macOS efficiently despite the different design focus.
Performance is expected to handle typical workloads such as web browsing, document editing, video streaming, and everyday productivity software. Graphics capabilities also support casual gaming and light creative tasks.
The base configuration includes 8GB of unified memory and a 256GB SSD, with a 512GB storage option available. Apple does not currently offer memory upgrades beyond the base configuration.
Connectivity is more limited than other Mac models. The laptop includes two USB-C ports, one operating at USB 3 speeds and the other at USB 2 speeds, alongside a 3.5 mm headphone jack.
Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 6 support are included, but the device does not offer Wi-Fi 7, Thunderbolt ports, MagSafe charging, or cellular connectivity.
The MacBook Neo features a 1080p FaceTime HD camera and a dual-microphone system with directional beamforming. Audio comes from a dual-speaker system supporting Spatial Audio and Dolby Atmos.
Battery life is rated at up to 16 hours of typical use. Charging takes place through USB-C and is limited to 20-watt charging without the fast-charge support available on higher-end MacBooks.
